Room 512, early Friday evening

Brooke took her time getting ready, which was because most of it was spent either making sure she was wearing exactly the right push-up bra for the dress, and making sure her eye makeup was mask-proof. But at least she knew she looked fantastic, mutual stag date or not.

...That really did sound kind of dirty.

Peter had on a good suit and a mask. All that taken care of, he went to Brooke's room and knocked.

Smoothing out her dress on the way to the door, she opened it with a smile. "Well, well, look at you."

Peter took in the sight of Brooke in the dress and boggled. "Wow. Seriously wow."

That sort of reaction just never got old. "I take that as approval?"

"I would go so far as to say strong approval," Peter said. "Way to pick a dress."

"I do what I can," she assured him. Looking him over again, she said, "I knew there was a reason I was looking forward to you in a suit."

"I hear I clean up pretty," Peter joked. Finally taking his eyes off her, he noticed the flowers that she'd gotten yesterday. "Hey - those look like Valentine's gifts. And you told me you didn't have a date."

"A girl can't get flowers from friends?" she asked. Ignore that one of said friends was a onetime hookup.

"Multiple flower gifts," Peter replied, obviously teasing. "Huh, maybe I should just go back to my room."

"Too bad, considering none of them asked me to go with them," she pointed out, smiling.

"Clearly they're blind," Peter said, looking back at Brooke again. "They are missing out."

"Then we should probably show them that," Brooke said. "Shall we?"

Peter held out an arm for her to take. "Please."

Michael was also busy getting dressed. He'd got as far as the pants and shirt, and was now wishing he'd paid more attention to exactly how Isabel did his tie up when he bought it.

It kept getting tangled in knots.

Brooke looked over from where she was mascaraing, asking, "New to the tie thing?"

"Never had call to wear one before", he admitted, frowning at it in the mirror.

"Here, let me help," she said, standing up to head over to him.

He certainly wasn't refusing, stepping back and turning slightly to give her better access.

"Thanks."

Brooke went to work on the tie, having absolutely no problem with it. "Hot date, huh?"

"Taking Hoshi to the dance", he told her. It translated to 'hot date' in its way?

"I don't think I've met her," she said, thinking about this. "She cute?"

"She's in my Mythology class", he said helpfully. "Yeah, she's pretty cute."

As rave reviews went, that wasn't exactly one, but maybe it was in Michael speak. She pulled her hand away, patting him on the arm and saying, "Don't you look dapper."

It actually was. He didn't do overstatement.

He grinned, a little embarrassed. "You think?"

"Definitely," she said. "You're gonna knock cute girl dead."

"You too. For... whoever you're going with."

"Peter Petrelli," she said, heading back to finish up on her makeup. "Also known as Hard to Get Peter on my radio nights."

"It's a friend thing," Brooke corrected. "Trust me, the name applies."
