Brooke's studio - NYC- Sunday afternoon

New York Fashion Week was this week. This week. This meant that the studio Brooke was using to get everything together looked like it had exploded, and the designer in question was freaking out, to put it lightly. It wasn't even like she was getting a big show, and it wasn't the first time she'd done her own show anyway. Didn't matter. This was big, and she'd be forever grateful to her mother for getting her in the place where she could be freaking out the week before her very first Fashion Week appearance.

Of course, when the needle on the sewing machine she was using to finish up one of the dresses she'd been working on broke, she almost burst into tears, and figured it might be time to take a little break.

Because it would suck to cry on her clothes.

And that would be the phone ringing...

Brooke actually startled when her phone rang, pulling it to her ear like she didn't know whether to talk into it or throw it after the sewing machine incident. She stuck to the rational response. "Yeah?"

"Hey you, how's it going?" Peyton said cheerfully.

Brooke had to check her phone to see what the caller ID came up as. She'd always recognize Peyton's voice, but she hadn't talked to her Peyton in months, which would kind of dictate her response. "Extremely busy," she admitted, trying for more cheerful than stressed. "How are you doing?"

"Just sent another 'Friends with Benefit' CD off, so now I'm sitting around wondering what to do next," Peyton admitted easily. "It's weird not having a zillion things to accomplish."

That... sounded awesome, actually. "Wanna trade?" Brooke checked.

"Crazy busy, huh?" Peyton guessed. "Anything I can do to help?"

"No, it's okay," she said with a little sigh. "It's just Fashion Week starts in four days and I'm trying to finish everything up. Are you any good at flinging sewing machines around, maybe?"

"Flinging I could do," Peyton said with a grin. "Sewing now, well... you don't really want me doing much of that without really close supervision. But hey, Fashion Week! Pretty cool, B. Davis!"

"I think I've slept about four hours in the last week and the street is probably littered with heads I've bitten off people who dared to look at me funny, but it's pretty cool. And I should be marginally less PMSy-seeming soon," she said, unable not to smile. "So you did another CD?"

"So typical B.Davis coming up on a cheerleading competition or something," Peyton teased. "And yeah. I figured the first one did so well, why not, you know?"

"I'll have to be on the lookout for it," Brooke decided. "Same cause?"

"Yeah." Peyton was quiet for a moment. "I'd been thinking alot about Ellie, so I thought it would be a good idea."
