On the way to the Perk, Saturday midday

Prom had been pretty awesome in Brooke's opinion, though doing regular things after getting a crown the night before was a bit on the humbling side. So today it was a stop at the Perk for coffee before doing some errands, because she needed something to motivate her.

She'd spotted some kids around, but didn't think anything of it. Maybe everyone was just tiny again.

He was so cute. "I do my best," she smiled, reaching for his hand. Okay, maybe not so much with the coffee and errands today. "Can't say I won't like having you around here, you know."

"So...does that mean I get a doublescoop?" Don't say the kid wouldn't try to work it.

"Depends," Brooke said. "What flavor you gonna get?"

"Well, I'm partial to chocolate, of course. But I know that some days a mint chocolate chip really hits the spot," Jamie smiled, grabbing up Brooke's hand.

"Hmm. I approve. Okay. double scoop it is," she agreed. Meanwhile her ovaries had just exploded.

"When are you gonna get married, Aunt Brooke?" Jamie asked, swinging her hand as he skipped along.

"No time soon," she said immediately, and then let herself go bzuh. "I'm kind o still lacking a guy, you know. And a high school diploma. And the vast fortune it would take for me to actually have a wedding."

"But you're rich and famous," he reminded her. "I think you need to think about settling down."

It was like he had taken a page out of his mother's book.

Brooke started to laugh, then asked, "I'm rich and famous? Really?"

"Am I on candid camera or somethin'? Jamie asked, looking around. "Or are you just pullin' my chain for fun?"

Had they gone over this last year? "No, it's just Fandom's a little weird sometimes, Jamie. I think I'm from a little bit before you are."

He thought about that for a minute. "Does that mean you don't remember the accident?"

"Which accident?" It was an important question when you were from Tree Hill and you could be hit by a car and sent straight into a coma at any time.

"The one with momma and daddy and Uncle Lucas," Jamie said, not skipping anymore.

Brooke stopped walking, kneeling down to see him eye to eye. "No. I don't remember that."

"Oh, well you're lucky then, 'cause I sure do," he said. "I think we need a hug now."

"...Okay," she said, thinking maybe she didn't want to know. She reached out to pull him towards her, telling him, "You're very easy to hug, you know."

"That's because I'm awesome," Jamie assured her, hugging fiercely. "And you're a good mom."

While it was for a terrible reason he was apparently with her, it was sort of nice to hear that. She smiled at him, asking, "You think?" Might as well get him thinking happy, right?

"I think," Jamie said easily. "You buy me ice cream and let me drink soda."

"That's all it takes? Wow, I must really rule," she grinned. "And I am covering the ice cream already here..."

"I may be easy, Aunt Brooke, but I'm no ho." He'd so heard that somewhere.

Brooke stared at him before cracking up, deciding he needed another hug just for that.
