On the way to 512, Friday after the dance

The dance had gone pretty well in Brooke's eyes, with mmuch less drama than the ones she was used to. That was new, but she could get used to it. And she was even getting a Peter to walk her back to the dorms.

"You know, this part is also better than going to a dance completely single," she mused. Especially if she'd gone to the Valentine's Dance single and still managed to come back alone.

"Okay, here's the thing," Peter replied. "I tend to not be into doing homework."

"And the alternative is..."

"To doing homework?" Peter asked, sure he was getting her question wrong. "Usually just not doing it."

"I mean to your not doing my homework that I just gave you," she amended.

"Ohhh," Peter said. "Well in that case it'd probably be up to you to decide on an acceptable alternative."

"See, you keep setting me up to say things that will get me shot down," Brooke said.

"It's not shooting you down," Peter said. "It's shooting down the idea of doing those things for those reasons."

She raised her eyebrows and said, "So if it wasn't for my way of doing things, you'd be good with it?"

Peter took a step closer. "I only do things because I mean them."

Well that kind of changed the way she'd been thinking about this whole thing. "Huh."

The whole thing hadn't ended up the way Peter intended, but that didn't mean he didn't want to go with the flow. "So if I kissed you, it wouldn't be because of a bet, or a silly promise, or because you were available. It would be because I like you, your company, and I enjoyed tonight."

"And did you?" she asked, watching him. Her night was looking up. Moreso. And potentially.

Peter replied to that by stepping closer still. He reached to cup Brooke's chin in his hand. He leaned in - pausing long enough to look upwards to indicate how the spot they were in was well-lit - and then brushed a kiss over her lips.

Brooke kissed him back, still a little unsure of how this had all happened but not complaining in the slightest, adding a little bit more pressure to prove that last part.

Peter added a little pressure of his own, just to make it clear - possibly to the both of them - that this wasn't being done in a platonic manner.

Then he stepped back, because that was as far as he was going tonight. "I had a really nice time. Thank you."

"You too," she said, trying not to look as confused as she felt. Which was probably why she let him get away that easy. "Have a good night, Peter."

"You too, Brooke." Peter gave her one last smile before heading back to his room.
